Celebrating Scottish heritage with Brave
What’s more, this year Scotty Brand has been celebrating its Scottish heritage and family values by teaming up with the Disney/Pixar film, Brave. A grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and signature Pixar humour, Brave uncovers a new tale in the mysterious Highlands of Scotland. Headstrong Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) – a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson) - defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land, forcing her to discover the meaning of true bravery before it’s too late.
The epic Scottish landscapes depicted in the film are not dissimilar to the real-life backdrops of Scotty Brand’s farms, where the team works with award-winning producers - from the cool soils of Aberdeenshire, where Phillip Benzie farms carrots, to the rolling hills of Perthshire, where Geoff Bruce grows soft fruit.
And to celebrate Brave’s release on Blu-ray and DVD on 26th November, Scotty Brand is offering a chance to win a feast of prizes when you buy a Disney/Pixar promotional pack. As the nights draw in, there are prizes to keep all of the family entertained – from home entertainment systems to games consoles and iPads. More A LAND fisherman caught a record-breaking 805lb mako shark - and then barbecued and ate it with his friends. Joey Polk, 29, and his two cousins Earnie Polk, 43, and Kenny Peterson, 21, battled the 11ft predator for more than an hour before finally hauling it onto the shore at a secret location on the Florida Panhandle. The catch, set on April 15, beat a previous record set by Earnie for a mako weighing 730lbs, in February 2009. The potential world-record is being judged by the International Land-Based Shark Fishing Association, who look at big game catches caught by fishing on dry land. The Polk family normally release their catches and have helped local groups tag hundreds for conservation. However, this shark was too tired after the epic battle and to avoid wasting him the trio enjoyed their catch at a jumbo-sized family barbecue.
